Located in America’s Rust Belt, Ohio Flame Inc. is just 20 miles south of Youngstown, Ohio, a city once known as one of the nation's top steel producers.
Although Youngstown lost its largest steel company, Youngstown Iron Sheet and Tube Company, in 1977, America’s Rust Belt has experienced a recent economic revival. Art, entertainment, manufacturing, and technology industries are all thriving and Ohio Flame Inc. finds itself a part of this Rust Belt Revival. Ohio Flame combines art with technology to proudly represent their hometown's heritage at an international level, through the manufacturing of hand-crafted American-made steel fire pits and accessories.
Because they know how important it is to stay true to their local roots, Ohio Flame Inc. proudly sources their heavy gauge American steel from various domestic steel mills. And as much as possible, uses American Made materials throughout their entire production process. The company is located in Columbiana Ohio, which is not only the birthplace of the famed titan of industry Harvey Firestone but was also named as Reader Digest's 2019's "Nicest Place in America".
Q: How much do Ohio Flame fire pits weigh?
A: The weight of the fire pit depends entirely on the size of the specific model. The lightest fire pit is 38 lbs and the heaviest is 260 lbs. The approximate product weight for each fire pit can be found in the DETAILS + SPECS tab.
Q: How sturdy are Ohio Flame Fire Pits?
A: VERY STURDY! The pedestal base is welded onto the fire bowl, so tipping the fire pit over is nearly impossible. We like the design and the questions that it makes people ask.
Q: Do you offer painted Fire Pits?
A: Ohio Flame no longer offers painted fire pits. There are no known finishes out there they have found that will not burn off after use. Ohio Flame doesn’t feel that this matches the quality that they represent as a company. For that reason, they choose to not offer paint finishes of any kind. There are some high-heat engine enamel spray paints out there in a wide variety of colors and metal finishes if you are set on having a painted fire pit; but, these too will burn off after some use.
Q: Is this Fire Pit safe for my deck?
A: We suggest that you do not place Fire Pits on any flammable or combustible surface such as wooden decks. See the USE + SAFETY tab to learn more about proper installation.
Q: Is any maintenance required for my Ohio Flame Fire Pit?
A: No maintenance is required on Ohio Flame fire pits. Because they use thick gauge American steel, that can withstand the elements, you don't have to baby the fire pit or put a cover on it when not in use. It's also not required to bring in your fire pit at the end of the summer season. Ohio Flame fire pits are built for year-round use. They’re used to cold and snowy Winters and rainy Springs in Northeast Ohio; so, Ohio Flame fire pits can stand up to what mother nature brings our way. They put a substantial hole in the center of the Fire Bowl to serve as a rain drain, which lets out any rainwater accumulation. The only thing that Ohio Flame suggests is to periodically empty out any excessive accumulation of ash or debris from the fire bowl. This can be done with a shovel when the ash and debris have cooled.
Q: Is any assembly required for Ohio Flame fire pits?
A: Nope! All you have to do is remove the fire pit from its packaging or pallet. Ohio Flame’s fire pits feature a two-piece welded design. Not only does this mean that there is nothing to assemble, but it also minimizes problematic areas or parts that may become susceptible to damage. Ohio Flame designs their fire pits to last a lifetime; so, they like to keep things easy to use and maintain.
Q: Are Ohio Flame Fire Pits American Made?
A: Ohio Flame fire pits are 100% American-made. Their fire bowls are cold-formed from American steel by using American mechanical presses. All of Ohio Flame’s welding and fabricating is done in-house by a local American artist. They source their sandblasting to a great local contact who is in the Rust Belt community. Their shop is also locally owned and supports American Made. Buying an Ohio Flame American Made Fire Pit is a great way to support American Made!
Q: Do you support Buy American and American Made?
A: Ohio Flame is extremely passionate about buying American Made and supporting the local economy. As much as they possibly can, Ohio Flame only purchase materials that are made in the USA. They only use American steel, mostly from domestic mills that are in Ohio. Ohio Flame also purchases fabrication materials, manufacturing equipment, and packaging supplies that are sold from American companies. They choose to work with local vendors whenever possible to help the local economy. Ohio Flame customers support "American Made" and we continue to do our best to ensure that our company supports products that are Made in the USA.
Q: What makes Ohio Flame Fire Pits different?
A: The answer is simple...steel thickness. The big difference between Ohio Flame fire pits and the ones that you'll find at those large box stores is the thickness of the steel they use. The fire pits found at those retail stores are very lightweight and use foreign sheet metal with an average thickness of only .017" (they’ve checked using a micrometer)! Other brands do this because it’s cheaper; cheaper to purchase and cheaper to handle and ship. The problem is that thinner steel = a shorter lifespan for the fire pit. Ohio Flame uses much thicker steel, on average .174"+. Exact steel thickness depends on the model and size of the fire pit. Ohio Flame chooses to purchase American steel sourced from local steel mills, in Ohio.
Q: How do I extinguish the fireplace?
A: All fireplaces have a fuel tray, with a lid, to cover the opening and a separate handle. Use the provided handle to close the lid to the fuel tray to “snuff” or extinguish the fire. By closing the lid, you eliminate the supply of oxygen which extinguishes the flame.

- Do not use under any overhead structure or near any unprotected combustible constructions. Avoid using near or under overhanging trees and shrubs.
- Always use Ohio Flame fire pits on a hard, level non-combustible surface such a concrete, rock, or stone. An asphalt or blacktop surface may not be acceptable for this purpose. Surfaces such as dirt and grass may prevent the unit from having proper ventilation.
- Ohio Flame fire pits must be used ONLY outdoors in a well-ventilated space and shall NOT be used inside a building, garage, or any other enclosed area. DO NOT use the outdoor gas fire feature for indoor heating. Toxic carbon monoxide fumes can accumulate and cause asphyxiation.
Ohio flame offers a Lifetime Warranty on the steel of the Fire Bowl. Because they use thick gauge American steel, Ohio flame fire pits are guaranteed to not rust through, rot or warp in your lifetime. Steel gauge thickness varies by size and model, but range from 3/16″ to 1/4″ thick. Although their fire pits will develop a natural iron oxide patina over time, this process occurs only at the surface level. Over time, this patina process will darken slightly and act as a protective finish that will prevent the steel below from continuing to oxidize. You can probably expect these fire pits to last for several generations, but to keep things simple, they just call it a Lifetime Warranty.
Lifetime Warranty applies to the structural integrity and durability of the steel bowl and welds. No warranty is offered on screens, grates, paint, or finishes. Altering the product or using the fire bowl in any way other than intended will void the manufacturer’s warranty.
Lead times depend on the size of the fire pit and current stock levels. In-stock products can ship out as soon as the next day. Larger fire pits and products that are not in stock typically ship out in 5 - 7 business days. Actual shipping transit time can range 5 - 6 days for west coast deliveries, and 2 - 4 for the rest of the continental USA.
How an item ships depends on the size of the fire pit. Ohio Flame ships via FedEx Ground and UPS Ground for all fire pits weighing up to 150 lbs. These parcel shipments will arrive in a double-wall corrugated box, with no signature being required. Heavier fire pits will ship via LTL Freight. These freight shipments will arrive on a pallet or palletized box. A signature will be required for all freight shipments.
Ohio Flame’s return policy covers damaged or defective products only. If you feel that your product is defective or has been damaged during shipment, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. If the product is found to be defective or damaged, either a replacement or refund may be issued. Ohio Flame’s return policy excludes "buyer's remorse".
Warning Pursuant to Proposition 65
Proposition 65, officially the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, is a law that requires warnings to be provided to California consumers when they might be exposed to chemicals identified by California as causing cancer or reproductive toxicity. The warnings are intended to help California consumers make informed decisions about their exposures to these chemicals from the products they use. The California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) administers the Proposition 65 program and publishes the listed chemicals, which includes more than 850 chemicals. In August 2016, OEHHA adopted new regulations, effective on August 30, 2018, which change the information required in Proposition 65 warnings.
Some of the products offered on this site may contain chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and/or birth defects, or other reproductive harm. We are providing the following warning for products linked to this page:
For more information go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov
WHAT TYPES OF CHEMICALS ARE ON THE PROPOSITION 65 LIST?
The list contains a wide range of naturally occurring and synthetic chemicals that include additives or ingredients in pesticides, common household products, food, drugs, dyes, or solvents. Listed chemicals may also be used in manufacturing and construction, or they may be byproducts of chemical processes, such as motor vehicle exhaust.
The list of chemicals has grown to include approximately 900 chemicals since it was first published in 1987, and continues to grow each year.
HOW CAN I PROTECT MYSELF?
The good news is that this law has caused many manufacturers to alter or change the way they produce products, in hopes to make them safer for consumers. However, there are still many items used every day that contain these listed chemicals that cannot be altered. As such, it is important for consumers to be made aware of the dangers and to take precautions when using these items to reduce or eliminate exposure. How you protect yourself largely depends on the product or place and the chemical you are trying to avoid.
WHERE CAN I GET MORE INFORMATION ON PROPOSITION 65?
If you have specific questions on the administration or implementation of Proposition 65, you can contact OEHHA’s Proposition 65 program at P65.Questions@oehha.ca.gov, or by phone at (916)445-6900.
